A Legacy of Justice and Compassion

Gene Toscano, Inc. was founded in 1961 by my father with one clear purpose: to stand up for those who could not stand up for themselves. As a proud Hispanic-owned law firm, we were among the first in San Antonio to offer Spanish-speaking legal services to our community. My father, who hated bullies and believed in fairness, saw the law as a powerful tool to level the playing field for everyone—especially the most vulnerable. For over 60 years, our family has carried on that mission, helping seriously injured individuals reclaim their lives. Our passion for justice is not just a job; it is our family’s way of giving back to the community we love.

Our Team Is Here for You

At Gene Toscano, Inc., our team of dedicated legal professionals is here to guide you through every step of your case. With years of experience and a commitment to your recovery, we are ready to stand by your side and fight for what you deserve. Your recovery is our priority, and we will work tirelessly to help you claim it.

Our Heritage:

Eugene “Gene” P. Toscano

June 9, 1933 – February 23, 2023

Mr. Gene Toscano was born in San Antonio, Texas.  At the age of 16, he graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1950 accepting a music scholarship to St. Mary’s University where he graduated with a degree in English in 1954. Gene was an accomplished trumpet player and was privileged to tour the country with Rosita Fernandez and Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez after having taught himself Spanish while playing salsa and tropical music in downtown San Antonio during his youth. He served in the Army from 1955 to 1957. While stationed in Germany, he was a member of the 5th Army band playing the trumpet during post WWII reconstruction. After serving, he returned home, attending St. Mary’s Law School at night while working various jobs, continuing his trumpet play with orchestras such as Eduardo Martinez, Ramiro Cervera, Felix Solis, and Paul Elizondo, to support his single mother and brothers. He was awarded his law degree in 1961. To the dismay of many, he put down his trumpet to focus on his new practice of law. In 1963, he married the love of his life, Esther Leal, of Seguin, Texas. He founded Gene Toscano, Inc., his law firm in 1965, which continues to flourish today located in the building he built on the westside of San Antonio. Gene practiced law for 57 years before retiring in 2018, after having helped thousands resolve legal disputes of all types, complexity, and value. Gene was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His sharp wit was appreciated by all. Gene’s passions for the stock market, cards, dice, and himself, and spending time at the ranch in his younger years, added to his uniquely humorous, positive, and loving personality. Gene was a successful real estate developer, political commentator, rancher, bar owner, boxing promoter, and tire store owner. He maintained a lifelong passion for music, salsa dancing, jazz, baseball, and his Dallas Cowboys. Gene’s heart often compelled him to help those in need without any expectation of recognition or lucre. Many stories illustrate his generosity and helpfulness to those less fortunate or in need. A champion of the underdog (he hated bullies).
